Lydia Winstead is a student journalist based in Virginia Beach, VA, currently pursuing a B.A. in Media and Journalism and Hispanic Studies at The University of Chapel Hill with an expected graduation of May 2029.

As long as I can remember, I have always been curious. This curiosity inevitably led me to journalism, driving my passion for writing and reporting. Now, I enjoy exploring and connecting with new communities, whether through storytelling or community service.

As a senior writer for The Daily Tar Heel, UNC's independent student newspaper, I've gotten to know my school's community while learning how to report accurately and fairly. I plan to continue using my voice to share the stories of others and give back to communities that are important to me.
